These photos were captured during my second trip, using a pioneering Sony Mavica – one of the earliest cameras featuring a digital display on the front. This camera drew considerable attention in Africa. The images were stored on floppy disks, which I mailed back to the US after sending them via email.

Unfortunately, my original digital counter, brought with me to Africa, was stolen. This loss included all the pictures from the fynbos, as well as my color Mac laptop that held copies. In 1998, this technology was considered highly advanced and cutting-edge.
